Plan now before it is too late!

If you don't plan your estate now, the Singapore government will do it for you by using Intestate Succession Act to distribute your assets when you pass on.  This means that your assets may land in the wrong hands.  Your family and loved ones may not get what you have intented them to have.  You can avoid much problem and headache for your family if you have properly planned your estate.

True Life Stories on Why Estate Planning is Important

Aunty Gim's Story

Aunty Gim has been very fortunate to have married a very capable husband.  All these while,
she is enjoying good life.  She has no worries about money as the husband is a good provider.

Like all typical bored housewife, she started speculating in the stock market to while her time
away.  Initially she made some money.  Then when the market crashed in 1980's, she was caught.
As a result, she losed about $300,000.  All her money was gone.

As she dared not tell her husband the truth, she tried to hide the fact from him.  Creditors are
chasing after her to pay up.  She tried to stinch here and there to save money.  Alas, despite her
effort, she cannot withhold the truth anymore.

Finally, she had to tell her husband about her losses in the stock market.  As the amount was huge,
her husband became very depressed.  As the result of the depression, he contracted cancer of the throat.  He then went for chemeo therapy.

Thinking that he was dying, he then confided to his wife that he had another $300,000 in a Malaysian bank.  He runs his pharmeceutical factory in Malacca in Malaysia.

The lesson here is what if he died without confiding to his wife about his other bank account in Malaysia?   All this money will be lost if the wife does not know about its existence.

If he has done an estate planning, he'd not run such risk.

Anyway, the story does have a happy ending.  The husband recovered from his cancer affliction after treatment.
